I am now 22 years old :) and I would say this has been the best birthday yet.
I worked most of the day so it started out dull except for the fact that my dear friend Katie made me the most DELICIOUS cake known to mankind.
And then yummy lunch with Lanu at the cougareat :) After work Craig picked me up from work
He said he was thinking we could go to dinner and then to a jazz concert up in Park City. I made a face at that so he quickly changed plans to something else... a surprise.
Jazz...please!
After that Kenzie, Cassie, and I went to go get the traditional birthday pedicure. So nice, but it took way longer than we thought and we weren't done til 8. I can only imagine how Craig was feeling about me pushing back our dinner date :)
Finally Craig and I went to dinner at Los Hermanos. We had a strawberry lemonade, which was the 1st thing that changed my life that night. SO DIVINE!!!
After he told me what our next plans were. We were going to roast star bursts and other candies up the mountain and dance. Since I love to dance and he knows it.
So we go up to this park on the mountain that looked out on the city lights. It was perfect and in my head I was thinking... he should take me up here again when he actually proposes.
**Side note: I really wanted him to propose but I honestly did not think he would. Here is why:
He didn't wear the pants that I love on him that he always wears on special occasions
He acted like he had no clue what we would do that night
The so called "Jazz concert"
I had mentioned before that I did not want to be proposed to on my birthday, only to retract the statement later and he got upset about me not letting him do it his own way (I now know why. Ooops)**
Back to the story... The view was beautiful but it was windy and cold, so we didn't dance. Instead we snuggled up until we got the fire going. After awhile Craig says that he doesn't like the fire... "Craig I don't think any more twigs will make it easier to roast things"
"Well I just don't like the fire, I'll be back."
While he goes off to get more "twigs" for the fire I notice he takes his backpack with him. I'm still clueless just assuming he must plan on bringing back more sticks than he can carry...
While he is gone I continue scrounging through our bag of candies when I notice him crouched down with flowers in his hand. (He is actually kneeling but the slant of the mountain makes it look more like a crouch)
My first thought is oh he picked flowers off the mountain side. I vocalize the "Ohhhhh..." in a high pitched sing songy voice.
Then I notice the ring and the Ohhh... turns into a "oh." as I realize he is on one knee with a ring. Oh my gosh this is actually happening.
*Caution romance ahead* "Kelsey, I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life you. Will you marry me?"
pause, pause
"YES!!" I'm totally shaking at this point and my heart is racing. It was the best feeling ever. Then we spent the next 10 min trying to find the flashlight so I could see the ring.
There was a lot of hugging and kissing and me jumping up and down in the midst of the searching of the flashlight.
I am so so happy. It was worth the wait.
Then we made some phone calls and told our family. My mom was half asleep so I had to retell her the next day :)
Then I got to tell my roommates. There was A LOT of screaming and jumping.
